Expect the Best in Our Current Times

Times are stressful and almost all of us are being impacted directly or indirectly. Yes, we do have a new President and many people are feeling hopeful rather than hopeless. And that’s a good thing! I say Faith, Hope and Love are all helpful virtues that guide and give us strength, comfort and inspiration in our current times.

This brings us to expectations. Each and every one of us has the power within to expect the worst or expect the best. We hear people say: “The worst is yet to come” or “It’s going to get worse before it gets better.” They are deliberately inviting the worst to come.

We hear other people say: “I expect a change for the better” or “I keep all thoughts on a high note” or “This too shall pass.” They are inviting Better than Before, the Best of the Best conditions in their lives.

Here’s the deal; change your expectations and you will change your conditions. I realize this is easier said than done, yet with effort, practice and repetition you will succeed.

Here are ways to expect the best:

Change your habit of expecting lack, loss and limitation. Begin to act “as if” you expect success, happiness and abundance. Prepare for your good. If you are beginning your dream business, get in the vibration of hanging out with other entrepreneurs; join a teleclass online, etc.

Engage in effective stress management and relaxation activities. What activities make you feel you could reach for the stars? I’m enjoying a group of friends in the Tehachapi Mountains that my husband and I socialize with almost every weekend. Our conversations in general stay on a high note. Yes, sometimes one of us is under duress though we all know there are no problems; only solutions. With this in mind we support each other. When we enjoy activities that are not related to money or work we put everything in perspective. We get to focus on what is going well and what we are grateful for each and every day. In this way, our energy is clear and heightened and we maintain a positive outlook throughout our day. Let’s remember physical activities and laughter are great ways to effectively manage stress and enhance relaxation.

Change the “What if” question from worse to better. If you only think, “What if my business starts declining?”, “What if my husband gets laid off?”, “What if I can’t pay my rent or mortgage?”, and the worse questions go on and on. These questions can create a worse experience in your life! Change your question for the better. Examples would be: “What if my business declines and I can have the time to take a class on internet marketing?”, “What if my husband’s layoff leads to his dream job?”, “What if I am having trouble paying my mortgage and look into some of the new programs being offered by the government in reducing my monthly payment?”

Change your self talk questions for the better. Look for the good in any hardship and keep your thoughts on that good. I know you can do this for yourself and loved ones.
New directions, innovations, and your best experiences can arise in harder times. Remain optimistic and it may all work out better than you expect!

“Each problem has hidden in it an opportunity so powerful that it literally dwarfs the problem. The greatest success stories were created by people who recognized a problem and turned it into an opportunity”. Joseph Sugarman
