Strategies for Avoiding Burnout in a Stessed out World

Most of us have a significant about of stress and responsibilities in our lives. Some of these may include taking care of our families, our responsibilities at work, everyday tasks, and extra volunteer activities. Sometimes you can feel so overwhelmed and tired you just want to unplug the telephone and tell it all to go away!!! Soon you are feeling burned out!!!

Here are some simple things to remember in order to avoid burn out!!

Rest, relax, recreate, renew.
Pray for guidance and wisdom.
Give something up before taking on a new commitment or something new
Learn to say “No” and set up boundaries.
Set priorities.
Get away from it all. Make sure to do this on a regular basis.
Listen to your bodies stress warning signals such as, headaches, unexplained fatigue, shortness of breath, feeling overwhelmed, etc.
Cut out the hurry and worry. Use self-talk to assure yourself that you only have so many resources for each task. Take things as they come.
Stay away from guilt trips, don’t let others force you into things you are not ready to do. Know your limits.
Remember to have joy in your life. When the joy is not there time to reassess the situation.
